You have done the hard work of writing. You may have had colleagues or experts review the content. You are ready to prepare your project for publication.

At this stage, I recommend stylistic and/or copy editing.

What does stylistic editing involve?

  • thorough review of your sentences, paragraphs and word choices to ensure your meaning is clear

  • revisions to refine the flow of your writing for coherence and readability

  • changes to maintain consistent tone, style and voice throughout your document

What does copy editing involve?

  • detailed review of your document to check for accuracy and completeness

  • revisions to ensure correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and word usage

  • changes to maintain consistent style throughout your document

What will you receive with a stylistic or copy edit?

  • a copy of your file showing all tracked changes and comments

  • a “clean” copy of your file with all revisions accepted, only showing comments

  • a style guide detailing all editorial decisions

  • a memo summarizing my overall comments and suggestions
